The new year has already begun and Disney+ Hostar has quite a lot on their list this January 2021. Subscribers will finally get to see the much-awaited Marvel’s Eternals. The finale of popular family drama This is Us also drops this month. While this is just the start, a lot more is coming your way this month. Also, check out the list of new shows on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix coming in 2022 that we’re anticipating to be great hits.

6 new movies & shows on Disney+ Hotstar to watch this January 2021 that are both exciting & entertaining

1. 9-1-1: LONE STAR – 4TH JANUARY 

The popular series returns with season 3 and this time we will see Owen Strand tackling more intense emergencies that the Texas capital has never encountered before. For the freshers who haven’t watched the show yet, 9-1-1: Lone Star revolves around Owen Strand, the only survivor of his Manhattan firehouse on 9/11. He moves to where he must help others while dealing with his issues. The show features Rob Lowe, Gina Torres, Ronen Rubinstein, Sierra McClain, Jim Parrack, and Natacha Karam

2. THIS IS US SEASON 6 – 5TH JANUARY

The most popular and loved show This Is Us returns with the season finale. With a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show revolves around the Pearson family across the decades. From Jack and Rebecca as young parents in the 1980s to Kevin, Kate and Randall in their late thirties. Those who have watched this show have lived with the Pearsons. The finale will finally conclude the Pearson family’s journey across the decades. The show features amazing Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, and Jon Huertas.

3. ABBOT ELEMENTARY – 5TH JANUARY 

Starring Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph, the mockumentary has secured a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series revolves around a group of teachers brought together in Philadelphia public school, one of the worst public schools. Despite all the odds, they plan to help the kids succeed in their respective lives simply because they love teaching.

4. ETERNALS – 12TH JANUARY

The Eternals - Marvel phase 4 on Disney+ Hotstar

The new team of superheroes will be gracing the screen this month. Based on a comic series created by Jack Kirby, Eternals revolves around a group of superpower beings who are also immortal. With the powerful cast including Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee and Kit Harrington, Eternals introduces an immortal alien race that has lived secretly on the planet and come out after the events of Avengers: Endgame to save humanity from the Deviants. This Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao directorial also feature an openly gay superhero character and the first deaf superhero in the MCU. 

5. HUMAN – 14TH JANUARY

Starring Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari, Human is a medical thriller that revolves around drug trials on humans. Directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah along with Mozez Singh, the show sheds light on how the trials take place and who are the ones involved in this.

6. PROMISED LAND – 25TH JANUARY 

Starring John Ortiz, Cecilia Suarez, Augusto Aguilera, Christina Ochoa, Mariel Molino and Tonatiuh, the show is a generation-spanning drama about a Latinx family vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley.

7. ICE AGE’S THE ADVENTURES OF BUCK WILD – 28TH JANUARY 

Ice Age is back and the month couldn’t have gotten any better. The movie features Simon Pegg, Utkarsh Ambedkar, Justina Machado, Vincent Tong, and Aaron Harris. To distance themselves from their elder sister Ellie, Possum brothers Crash and Eddie set out to find a place of their own. However, they get trapped in the lost world and weasel Buck Wild comes for their rescue. Realising the danger, they set on a mission to save the lost world from being taken over by dinosaurs.
