HBO is a synonym for classic content and whenever a new HBO show arrives, we know that it’s going to be another riveting drama. Over the years, the network has given us some of the best TV shows of all time. From ‘Game of Thrones’ to ‘Westworld’, HBO has been behind a lot of ground-breaking TV series. One of the dramas that have managed to captivate everyone’s minds is none other than ‘Euphoria’.
Season 1 of HBO’s teen drama premiered in June 2019 and became one of the most acclaimed shows of the year. Led by the supremely talented actress Zendaya, the show chronicles the journey of a group of teenagers who experiment with sex and get tangled in the world of social media. They struggle with mental health and also suffer several heartbreaks.
With such massive success, the network announced that it will be coming with another edition of the show and fortunately, we are not too far away from it. Here’s everything we know about Season 2 of ‘Euphoria’.
When does ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 release and where can you watch it
The Covid-19 pandemic affected the release date of Season 2. However, the makers did not let fans down and they aired two special episodes ahead of its release. But, the second edition is finally coming out and it will be premiering exclusively on HBO on Sunday, January 9, at 9 pm EST.
Viewers who don’t have HBO, worry not, you can watch the channel on various streaming services such as YouTube TV and Hulu TV.
What is ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 all about?
Season 2 will be taking place right after what happened during the finale of Season 1. Bennett’s overdose ended the first edition and that happened after the person she loves the most – Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer) – leaves her alone on a train platform.
The second season will see Bennett getting even worse and relapsing. She was sober for almost three months and it seems, everything she did to control herself will go in vain.
Who stars in Season 2 of the HBO series?
Well, Zendaya will be back as Rue Bennett and Hunter Schafer will be reprising the role of Jules Vaughn on the show. On the other hand, Maude Apatow would be once again portraying the character of Bennett’s best friend Lexi Howard.
One of the brightest young talents in Hollywood, Zendaya has taken the world by storm with her acting skills and sense of fashion. She began her career as a child actor and a backup dancer. The actor had her breakthrough role on the Disney Channel show ‘Shake It Up’. Since then, she has made appearances in several projects. Her moment of glory came in 2017 when she was cast Michelle Jones, aka MJ, in ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’. She has reprised her role in two more ‘Spiderman’ movies and became a global star.
Other actors to feature on the series include Sydney Sweeney (Cassie), Barbie Ferreira (Kat), Jacob Elordi (Nate), Alexa Demie (Maddy), and Angus Cloud (Fez).
Based on the Israeli teen drama of the same name, the series has been created and written by Sam Levinson. Meanwhile, Tyler Romary, Phillip A. Barnett, Jamie Feldman, and Kenneth Yu are the producers of the show.
Levinson, Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Ron Lesham, Daphna Levin, Hadad Mozes Lichtenstein, Gary Lennon, Mirit Toovi, Tmira Yardeni, Yoram Mokadi, Jim Kleveweis, and Zendaya serve as executive producers.
The trailer makes us realize that things are going from bad to worse for Bennett. She will be experiencing more upsetting moments and heartbreaks. Police will be raiding a lot of parties that include drugs and it appears trauma, once again, is at the core of the show. You can watch the trailer here.
