Erik Larson’s historical non-fiction book The Devil in the White City is reportedly to become a series, potentially starring Keanu Reeves.
It is set to be made for American streaming service Hulu.
If the rumours are true about Reeves’ starring role, it would mark the Matrix and John Wick star’s first significant US TV role.
Deadline report that The Devil in the White City tells the true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were forever linked by The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893.

It is the tale of architect Daniel H. Burnham, as well as Henry H. Holmes, a doctor who creates his own pharmaceutical “Murder Castle” – a palace built to “seduce, torture and mutilate young women.”
The film rights to the 2003 book (titled “The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America”) were purchased by Leonardo DiCaprio back in 2010, initially with an eye to producing a feature film directed by Martin Scorsese and starring DiCaprio as H. H. Holmes.
In 2019, it was instead revealed that Hulu would be creating a big-budget series, although little is currently known about the production.
The news comes after Matrix Resurrections hit cinemas on December 22, 2021, marking Keanu Reeves ‘ fourth appearance as Thomas A. Anderson/ Neo – “The One” – in the franchise, alongside Carrie-Anne Moss.
