With the beginning of the year 2022 also comes new surprises to television and streaming platforms, such as a series that will debut this weekend, which talks about friendship, death, midlife crisis and dealing with the consequences of making impulsive decisions. It’s about Pivoting.

This FOX comedy series begins with the death of a woman who is part of a group of friends. With her departure, the rest of the girls inevitably pause in their lives to analyze what they need to be fulfilled, which will lead them to make drastic changes.

Under the premise that life is short, this trio of friends, each in their own way, decide to make big decisions that mean radical changes in their present and future, often with results far from what they were looking for, but always supporting each other.

Here’s what you should know about the upcoming release of Pivoting.

Pivoting release date

The Pivoting series will premiere this Sunday, January 9, 2022 on FOX at 8:30 pm ET, after Call Me Kat and before Bob’s Burger. The first episode is called If She Could See Us Now.

Pivoting Plot

The series doesn’t just focus on the classic plot of a group of childhood friends sharing their day-to-day adventures, and here’s how Fox’s official summary explains it.

“Pivoting is a single-camera comedy about how we deal with life, death, and all the crazy things that happen in between. Set in a small, middle-class town in Long Island, NY, the series follows three women – and close-knit childhood friends – as they cope with the death of the fourth member of their group.

“When faced with the reality that life is short, these women pivot, and alter their current paths, by way of a series of impulsive, ill-advised, and self-indulgent decisions. These pivots will strengthen their bond and prove it’s never too late to screw up your life in the pursuit of happiness.”

Pivoting has a cast with a background in comedy

The cast of Pivoting features actors who already have a background in comedy, led by Eliza Coupe as Amy, Ginnifer Goodwin as Jodie and Maggie Q as Sarah.

Coupe is remembered for her work on Scrubs and Happy Endings, while Goodwin is remembered for her roles in Once Upon A Time or Zootopia, as well as the romantic comedy films He’s Just Not That Into You and Something Borrowed, plus Maggie Q (Designated Survivor, Nikita).

In addition to the three leads, we will also get to see actors such as Olivia DeLaurentis, Francesca Corzo, Fizaa Dosani, Michael Canetty, Tommy Dewey, JT Neal and Audrey Gerthoffer.

Pivoting Trailer

If you’re still not clear on what to expect from Pivoting, here’s the trailer for the FOX series, which shows how Sarah, Jodie and Amy live the consequences of their rash decisions, whether it’s trying to figure out how to be a better mother, experiencing dissatisfaction with their romantic relationship or quitting their jobs in search of greater fulfillment.
