Man of Steel director Zack Snyder has officially shared the concept art for his next action sci-fi project with Netflix titled Rebel Moon. He also went on to confirm that the Sofia Boutella-led film is expected to start its production in a few months.
The Rebel Moon concept art, which you can check out below, offers us our first look at the upcoming film featuring an army of robot-like soldiers dressed in black armor with a red glowing light coming from within them. On his Vero post, Snyder said: “Rebel Moon concept art…we are in full swing heading toward principal photography in a few months.”
Rebel Moon will be directed by Zack Snyder from a screenplay he is co-writing with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, based on a story by Snyder and Johnstad. This marks Snyder’s latest project with the streamer, following the 2021 releases of Army of the Dead, and Army of Thieves.
“The film is set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius,” reads the synopsis. “They dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand the Tyrant.”
The film will be led by Sofia Boutella, who is no stranger to the sci-fi and action genres for her roles in 2015’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, 2016’s Star Trek Beyond, 2017’s Atomic Blonde, and 2021’s Settlers.
Rebel Moon will be produced by Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Zack Snyder for The Stone Quarry along with Grand Electric’s Eric Newman. Sarah Bowen will executive produce for Grand Electric.
